Diamonds Are A Thieves Best Friend (open)

Most men and women would love to be the front page story in the New York Times. Nolee Lawler had done it twice now. The first time was when she stepped down from being the CEO of Lawler Enterprise, a private security business that made guns for the military. It hadn't been her thing. She hated unnecessary violence and knew that would happen if she kept on building weapons. The second time she had made the front page, this morning in fact, no one knew it was her. A rare diamond, called the Brigadoon diamond, had gone missing from the New York History Museum. It would sell for millions on the black market and Nolee knew that. She intended to donate the money to charities in New York. All that was left to do was wait for her connections in the Black Market, or the police, to show up at the door.

John made was on his way to Nolee. He was one of the best white collar criminals in the system. He's done it all, robbed casinos, stolen diamonds, and black embezzled money more than once. He never got caught. Not only was he white collar, but he was one of the best grease men as well. His physical capabilities were something you wanted to have if you were trying to steal rare things. Of course, the money went to good causes, though Johnny did like to indulge in the luxury life. He shook his head and knocked on the door to see Nolee.

Nolee heard the knock on her door and got up. She checked her reflection, hoping not to be recognizable as she was. If this guy read the papers he would know who she was and could turn her in. On the other hands if it was the cops she didn't want to be on the newspaper for a third time. Opening the door she ushered the man in. "Who are you? Friend or cop?" she asked as soon as he was saftley inside.

John chuckled softly. "I'm your guy. And you don't need to dress like that." He said, eyeing Nolee. "Beating the system is easier than trying to get past it." He said, making himself comfortable on the couch.

Nolee looked at him, "I'm dressed like this so you can't get distinguishin' features if'n ya try to turn me in Mister." ((I just watched the original one!))

John tilted his head to the side. "Now, why would I do a stupid thing like that? Of course... your going to keep quiet about me. Because I know big people with big guns, honey." He said with a smirk. "We're both going to stay quiet. I've done the big diamonds, sweetness. I'm used to casinos. Breaking a casino, corrupting the system is the best way get money. And doll, I've already had a background check on you. Nolee Lawler, maiden name Lacroix. You have a brother, Carter Lacroix and your father is, or was, a pro wrestler; Jerry Lawler. You haven't had too many boyfriends... or none at all..." He spoke as he walked around the room.

Nolee tensed up, gulping. She wasn't afraid for herself. She was afraid for her brother. He was a good man and an honest worker who owned a mechanics shop in East Tennesse. "I wouldn't tell anyways. I called you didn't I?"

John nodded. "That you did. So, what exactly do you need from me?" He asked. "Money? Weapons? People?" He trailed off, pouring himself a glass of Scotch.

"I don't need a damn thing. I'm selling the Brigadoon diamond but the money isn't going to me," she removed a file with the names of all the charities and the amount of money that would be donated.

John nodded. "Alright. I usually steal money to get back at people. Anybody your trying to destroy? Owners of casinos, judges, whatnot..." He trailed off. "What exactly do you need from me? Most of my work is in Vegas." He said.

"I needed someone with a connection to the black market. I'm trying to get back at the government. I've seen children starving, dying in the streets because our government was to fuckin worried about over seas affairs. I've seen women abused by their senator husband or policeman boyfriends who were treated like heroes."

John nodded slowly. "The black market is a shady thing to deal with. And it's not what your looking for. What you want to be dealing with is extortion. I'll have my boys find something on all the government officials. The police database and everything. We'll find al the dirty ones, and make sure they get what they deserved." He said with a smirk.

"I know what I want. I just want money to go to those who need it. I don't want to extort people. I stole this diamond for christ sakes!" Nolee said showing him the Brigadoon diamond.

John shook his head. "Okay okay, your confusing me. You just said you want to get back at the government because of the dirty workers. Then, you need connections in the black market, which has nothing to do with that. And now you stole this diamond because of money for charity. Doll, none of this makes sense. Have you thought this out?" John asked with a raised brow. It was obvious to John this girl was inexperienced with this kind of thing.

Nolee bit her lip and shook her head. Truth was she hadn't thought it out. "No...I just...I'm new to this..."

John nodded. "Look, I'll sell the diomond on the black market, so long as I get... 5%. I'm planning a job, in Vegas. Amd I need to buy a drill. If you want, I'll let you in. You obviously need.to learn the ropes. You want real money? Vegas is the way to go." He said.

"I don't want the money for myself," Nolee restated. "I've got all the money I could ever want."

John rolled his eyes. "I know that. I steal money to get back people who've wronged me, and then I give it to charity, or I invest it.' he said. "So, are you up for Vegas? The job is pretty complex." He said.

Nolee nodded, "You'll have to teach me the basics along the way. Is it only us or do we have a crew?"

"We have a crew. We'll head to Vegas tomorrow morning, yeah? The job is... I had a very close friend of mine get screwed by his partner. They were opening a casino together. My friend's name is Adam. Adam... is int he hospital. He had a heart attack after he was screwed. Teh man who screwed him, Benedict, owns five of the best casino & hotels on the strip. His newest opening, the Polazzo, is the one we need to take down." He explained.

"Benedict?" Nolee chuckled. She was a bit of a history buff so the though of a man named Benedict, as in the infamous Benedict Arnold, made her chuckle.

John shook his head. "Yeah. And he's not a nice man. He screwed my friend. We're going to steal his diomends, and break his casino." He said.

Nolee smiled, "Darlin, I ain't never met a gentleman when it came to the world. There are no Prince Charmings, it's a lie told to sell Disney movies."

John nodded and smirked. "Your already thinking like a white collar criminal. Now, pack your stuff. I'll pick you up tomorrow and we'll got o the airport. I have business to attend to." He said and got up, straightening out his suite. "Ciao!" He called before leaving the house.

Nolee sat against the door, running a hand through her hair. There were things going on in her head that only a nice shower woudl fix. He nodded, sighing as she headed into the bathroom and took a shower before packing and getting ready for the next day. She sent her brother a good night text, wishing him happiness in Tennesse.
